Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 · Error: the invoice is rejected
PEPPOL-EN16931-CL008 The electronic address uses an unknown scheme code
What it means
Every electronic address (seller BT-34, buyer BT-49) has a scheme code that says what kind of ID it is, for example 0208 (Belgian enterprise number), 0192 (Norwegian organisation number), 9930 (German VAT number) or 0088 (GLN). The scheme code used here is not on the Peppol list of electronic address schemes.
Common causes
- An old letter code is used, such as BE:CBE, BE:VAT, GLN or NO:ORGNR, instead of the four-digit code.
- The scheme code is missing or has a typo (for example 208 instead of 0208).
- The country code or the whole ID is put in the scheme field.
How to fix it
Use the four-digit scheme code from the Peppol list and put only the ID itself in the address, for example scheme 0208 with 0123456789.
Who fixes it: The sender's invoicing software or the customer record where the Peppol ID is stored.
