UBL invoice viewer

Got an .xml file instead of an invoice? Drop it below. You'll see a readable invoice straight away: supplier, customer, lines, VAT, totals and payment details.

The file never leaves your browser: it is opened and shown on your device only.

Which files can you open?

  • Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 (UBL): the standard for e-invoices between Belgian businesses. Peppol BIS is an application of the European standard EN16931 [2].
  • Credit notes in UBL.
  • CII files (UN/CEFACT), including German XRechnung.
  • Factur-X / ZUGFeRD: a PDF with an embedded XML invoice, common in France and Germany.

Why did I get an XML file?

A Peppol invoice isn't a PDF but a structured file meant for software. Your accounting or invoicing software normally shows it as an invoice. You only see the raw XML when you download it, when a supplier forwards it by email, or when your accountant sends it to you.

Can I use the readable version for my books?

The structured e-invoice is the legal invoice. You must keep it for the full retention period. The FPS Finance also requires it to stay readable throughout that period, "via a PDF or a viewer" [1]. Our viewer helps you read the file but doesn't replace your archive. The display is only an aid; if in doubt, the content of the XML file prevails.

What about attachments?

Attachments to a Peppol invoice (purchase order, work order, a PDF copy) are embedded in the UBL file or sent as a link [1]. The embedded PDF is often a "nice" version of the same invoice.

What the viewer doesn't do

  • It doesn't create, edit or send invoices. For that you need Peppol software: see free Peppol options.
  • No validation yet: checking for errors against the Peppol rules comes later.

Who sent this file?

Want to know which Peppol provider a supplier or customer uses? Use the Peppol ID lookup with their enterprise number. That's a separate click; your invoice file is not sent anywhere.
