Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 · Error: the invoice is rejected
PEPPOL-COMMON-R043 A Belgian enterprise number (scheme 0208) is in the wrong format
What it means
An ID with scheme 0208 is a Belgian enterprise number (KBO/BCE). It must be exactly 10 digits, with a valid modulo-97 check on the last two digits. The number on this invoice is not.
Common causes
- The number includes the BE prefix (BE0123456789) or dots (0123.456.789).
- An old 9-digit number without the leading 0.
- A typo, so the check digits no longer match.
How to fix it
Send the enterprise number as 10 digits only, for example 0123456789. Check it in the Belgian company register (KBO/BCE) if unsure.
Who fixes it: Whoever stores the number: the sender for its own number, or the customer record for the buyer's.
