EN 16931 (European standard) · Error: the invoice is rejected
BR-CO-16 The amount due doesn't match total, prepayment and rounding
What it means
The amount due for payment (BT-115) must be the total with VAT (BT-112), minus any amount already paid (BT-113), plus any rounding amount (BT-114). The invoice gives a different amount due.
Common causes
- A prepayment or deposit is deducted from the amount due but not stated as a paid amount.
- A correction or credit is subtracted from the amount due instead of being an invoice line or allowance.
- Cash rounding (for example to 0.05) is applied without a rounding amount.
- Early-payment discount is deducted from the amount due.
How to fix it
Show every deduction in its own field: prepayments as the paid amount, rounding as the rounding amount. Then calculate the amount due from those fields.
Who fixes it: The sender's invoicing software; the sender records the prepayment or rounding correctly and issues a new invoice.
