EN 16931 (European standard) · Error: the invoice is rejected
BR-CO-15 The total with VAT isn't the net total plus VAT
What it means
The invoice total including VAT (BT-112) must be exactly the total without VAT (BT-109) plus the total VAT (BT-110). On this invoice the three totals don't fit together.
Common causes
- The gross total is the sum of rounded gross line amounts, while net and VAT totals are calculated separately.
- The VAT total is missing, or given more than once (for example once in the invoice currency and once in another currency).
- A prepaid amount or rounding amount is subtracted from the gross total instead of from the amount due.
- Amounts carry more than two decimals.
How to fix it
Calculate the net total and the VAT total first, then set the gross total to their sum. Prepayments and rounding go into the amount due (BT-115), not into BT-112.
Who fixes it: The sender's invoicing software; the sender fixes the totals and issues a new invoice.
