French Peppol ID lookup

Type a SIREN (9 digits), a SIRET (14 digits) or a French VAT number (FR + 2 characters + SIREN). You'll see whether that number is registered on the Peppol network to receive e-invoices, and through which Peppol provider (access point). Read the next section first: in France, a Peppol result is only part of the picture.

Look up a company

What are you sending?
Whose number is this?

Only the number you type is sent. We show the e-invoicing provider only: no names, no contact data. Name search asks the official register directly from your browser; we never see or keep the name.

France runs on approved platforms and the directory, not on Peppol

Since 1 September 2026, every business in France must be able to receive e-invoices through an approved platform (plateforme agréée, PA, formerly called PDP). Large and mid-size companies (GE, ETI) must also issue all their invoices electronically since that date; small, medium and micro-businesses must do so by 1 September 2027 at the latest [1]. Invoices go from the supplier's platform to the customer's receiving platform [1].

Routing works through the directory (annuaire) run by the administration. Each business signs a formal agreement with the platform(s) it chooses, and that platform is designated in the directory as its receiving platform [1]. The directory then steers each invoice to the right recipient automatically [2]. A directory entry exists at the level of the company (SIREN) and can be refined by establishment (SIRET), routing code or suffix [3].

Peppol is optional in France [2]. Approved platforms connect to each other either through a bilateral agreement or by joining an exchange network such as Peppol [3]. The DGFiP is the Peppol Authority for France [4].

What a Peppol lookup can and can't tell you

The lookup can tell you The lookup can't tell you
Whether this SIREN, SIRET or VAT number is registered as a Peppol receiver Which platform the company designated in the directory: only the directory says that [1][2]
Which provider runs that Peppol registration, from its certificate Whether that provider is on the official list of approved platforms: check the list [6]
Which document types it accepts on Peppol Whether the company has chosen a platform at all, if its platform doesn't use Peppol

So: found means the company is reachable over Peppol through that provider. Not found is common and says nothing about compliance, because many platforms exchange invoices without Peppol [2][3]. When you invoice a French business, your own approved platform reads the directory for you.

If a customer hasn't chosen a receiving platform yet, it has no directory address and the e-invoice can't be delivered; exceptionally, the invoice can then go by email or post [2].

Which numbers you can enter

A Peppol ID has the form scheme:number. These schemes are used for French companies [5]:

Scheme What it holds
0225 the FRCTC electronic address, the address format of the national directory [3][5]
0002 the SIREN (9 digits, from INSEE's SIRENE register)
0009 the SIRET (14 digits, one establishment)
9957 the French VAT number

When you type a SIREN, we look up the 0225 directory address, then 0002, then the matching VAT number under 9957. When you type a SIRET, we first try the establishment (0225 and 0009), then the company's SIREN. You can also type a full Peppol ID such as 0009: plus a SIRET.

What the result shows

  1. Two choices above the result: What are you sending? (an invoice, a credit note or a self-billing invoice) and Whose number is this? (a customer's, or your own company's).
  2. A verdict for that document. For a customer's number: "Yes: it should arrive over Peppol", "Probably, but check the points below" or "No: it won't arrive over Peppol as things stand". For your own number: your company is ready to receive it over Peppol, mostly ready, or can't receive it over Peppol yet.
  3. The Peppol provider, with its rank in our market-share sample and a link to its profile when we have one. How the sample is drawn: methodology.
  4. A checklist, each point marked OK, warning, problem or note: the number is registered on Peppol, and under which ID; the provider's record answers; the chosen document is accepted, or accepted only under the company's other ID (then send it there); the provider's certificate is valid, expires within 30 days, or has expired.
  5. The address to use in your invoicing software, with a copy button: the exact Peppol ID to send to.
  6. If it can't go over Peppol: what that means in France, where Peppol is optional and invoices are routed between approved platforms through the directory [2].
  7. Technical details (folded): the Peppol ID, the provider, its Peppol seat ID, the provider's country, the directory host (SMP), the certificate's expiry date, other IDs the company is registered under, when the check ran, and every document type it accepts. Results are cached for up to 24 hours.

We show no names, addresses or contact details, only technical data about the registration of the number you typed. There is no reverse search: you can't list the customers of a provider.

Why a document may not arrive, and what to do then: Will my e-invoice arrive?.

How it works

The lookup asks the public Peppol infrastructure the same questions an access point asks before it sends an invoice: the central address registry (SML), then the company's capability record (SMP), then the access point's certificate, which names the provider. It does not query the French directory. Our network data comes straight from Peppol and from the Peppol Directory (OpenPeppol AISBL) [7].
