Free Factur-X viewer: open a French e-invoice without uploading it
The file never leaves your browser: it is opened and shown on your device only.
Install the app. Open e-invoice files straight from your computer or phone, also offline. Files stay on your device.
Use offline. Keep the viewer on this device so it also works without a connection. Your browser saves a copy of our pages and the viewer; turn it off to remove the copy. Invoice files are never uploaded.
Received a "Factur-X" PDF or an XML file and want to see what it really contains? Drop it above. The viewer shows the invoice in plain language: seller, buyer, lines, VAT, totals, payment terms.
Your file stays in your browser
- Everything happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, copied or stored.
- You can check: the page's security policy blocks connections to any third-party site, the source code is published, and the viewer works offline once loaded.
- The viewer displays invoices; it never creates, edits or sends them.
Which files can it open?
| File | What it is |
|---|---|
| Factur-X PDF | A human-readable PDF with an embedded XML file (CII syntax) [1] |
| CII XML | The UN/CEFACT syntax, without a PDF |
| UBL XML | The OASIS syntax, also used on the Peppol network |
| ZUGFeRD 2.x | Factur-X's German twin: the same standard [1] |
UBL, CII and mixed formats such as Factur-X are the three families the French reform provides for [2]. Their French profiles are set out in the AFNOR XP Z12-012 standard [3]. Old ZUGFeRD 1.0 files are not supported; the viewer tells you so.
Factur-X in two minutes
Factur-X is a Franco-German hybrid invoice standard: a PDF for people, XML data for software [1]. The current version is 1.09.2, published on 4 August 2026 [1]. It has five profiles, from lightest to fullest [1]:
- MINIMUM: header and totals only;
- BASIC WL: header and footer, no lines;
- BASIC: with the essential lines;
- EN 16931: all data in the European standard;
- EXTENDED: EN 16931 plus additional data.
The viewer shows the file's profile. A MINIMUM or BASIC WL file is not "wrong": it simply carries less data, and the viewer presents it that way.
Why the PDF and the XML can differ
In a Factur-X invoice, the XML holds the structured data that software and platforms process. The viewer displays the XML content. If it differs from the visible PDF, tell your supplier.
What this viewer does not do (yet)
- Validate a file (schema and business-rule checks): planned for a later version.
- Send or receive invoices: only approved platforms can do that, and you choose yours freely [4]. See our list of approved platforms.
Rendering based on KoSIT's open-source visualisation (Apache-2.0); full licences on the licence page. The XML file is the original invoice; the display is only a representation of it.
