Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 · Error: the invoice is rejected
PEPPOL-EN16931-R120 A line amount isn't quantity × price plus charges minus discounts
What it means
Each line net amount (BT-131) must equal the quantity (BT-129) times the net price per base quantity (BT-146 / BT-149), plus line charges (BT-141), minus line allowances (BT-136). The check allows 0.02 of difference. Peppol BIS treats it as an error; the XRechnung rules report it as a warning.
Common causes
- The unit price has more decimals than the file shows, so quantity × price no longer gives the line amount.
- A line discount is taken off the price and also sent as a line allowance (counted twice), or the other way round.
- A price per 100 or per 1,000 units is used without the matching base quantity.
- The line amount is rounded from a gross amount including VAT.
How to fix it
Send the net price exactly as used in the calculation (up to the decimals allowed), give the base quantity when the price is per several units, and show each discount only once.
Who fixes it: The sender's invoicing software; the sender may also need to check how prices and discounts are entered.
