EN 16931 (European standard) · Error: the invoice is rejected
BR-CO-13 The total without VAT doesn't add up
What it means
The invoice total without VAT (BT-109) must be the sum of the line amounts, minus the document-level allowances (BT-107), plus the document-level charges (BT-108). On this invoice the result is different.
Common causes
- A document-level discount or surcharge is shown in the totals but missing as an allowance or charge (or the other way round).
- The allowance or charge totals (BT-107, BT-108) don't match the individual allowances and charges.
- Early-payment discount is deducted from the net total, although it is only payment information.
- Rounding at a different step than the rest of the calculation.
How to fix it
Recalculate BT-109 from the line total, the allowance total and the charge total, all rounded to two decimals. Put discounts that don't change the invoiced amount in the payment terms instead.
Who fixes it: The sender's invoicing software; the sender corrects the totals or the discount setup and issues a new invoice.
