Check your Peppol registration

You've picked a Peppol solution, but do your suppliers' invoices actually reach you? A wrong registration is one of the most common reasons e-invoices "go missing". This check takes two minutes.

Step 1: look up your own enterprise number

Enter your enterprise number in our Peppol ID lookup. You can also use the official Peppol Lookup with the search string 0208:[your enterprise number] [1][5].

  • Found: go to step 2.
  • Not found: you can't receive e-invoices on your enterprise number yet, and that is where suppliers send by default [1]. Ask your software vendor to register you under scheme 0208.

Step 2: is it the right provider?

Our result shows which Peppol provider runs your registration. Compare it with the software you actually use.

Worth knowing: on the Peppol network, each Peppol ID is registered with one and only one address book (SMP) [2]. If you ever activated a free trial, a bank offer or a second invoicing tool, that provider may still hold your number. All your incoming e-invoices then land there, not in your current software.

Step 3: are the document types right?

Look at the document types listed for your registration. For ordinary invoices you need at least Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 (invoice and credit note). If you use self-billing (your customer issues the invoice for you), you as the supplier must also register the separate self-billing document type [3].

Step 4: registered under your VAT number only?

Some registrations exist only under the VAT number (scheme 9925). The Belgian convention is that you're reachable at least under your enterprise number (0208), and Peppol providers are contractually required to do this [1]. An extra 9925 registration is fine, but it doesn't replace 0208.

Step 5: test with a real invoice

Ask a supplier that already sends over Peppol (often your telecom operator, energy supplier or accountant) whether they sent you an invoice recently, and check that it appears in your software. An e-invoice usually arrives within minutes to a few hours; if it's still missing after more than one working day, contact your software vendor [1].

Your number sits with the wrong provider: what now?

Switching follows a fixed Peppol network procedure. Your current provider creates a migration key on your request and gives it to you; your new provider uses that key to take over the registration [2]. In practice:

  1. Ask the old provider (or the software that uses it) for a migration key, or ask it to delete your registration.
  2. Give the key to your new software.
  3. Check again with our lookup: the new provider should now appear.

Not using the old service any more, and it doesn't respond? Tell your new software vendor; they know the procedure.

Why it matters

Since 2026, not having the technical means to receive structured e-invoices can be fined EUR 1,500, and more for repeat offences [4]. And for a transaction within the mandate you generally need a structured e-invoice to deduct the VAT [3].
