Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 · Error: the invoice is rejected
NO-R-001 A Norwegian seller's VAT number isn't in the NO…MVA format
What it means
This Norwegian rule in Peppol BIS checks the VAT number of Norwegian sellers (BT-31): it must be NO, then the 9-digit organisation number with a valid check digit, then MVA, as in NO123456789MVA. The seller's VAT number here doesn't match.
Common causes
- The MVA suffix is missing (NO123456789).
- Spaces or dots inside the number (NO 123 456 789 MVA).
- A typo in the organisation number, so its check digit fails.
How to fix it
Store the seller's VAT number as NO + 9 digits + MVA, with no spaces. Check the organisation number in the Brønnøysund Register Centre if unsure.
Who fixes it: The sender (a Norwegian seller), in its company settings.
