Open an EHF invoice

The file never leaves your browser: it is opened and shown on your device only.

Got an .xml file and wondering what's in it? Drop it here and it is shown as a normal invoice, with seller, buyer, lines, VAT and payment details.

Which files can it open?

  • EHF invoices and EHF credit notes, version 3.0. An EHF invoice is the same as Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 [1].
  • Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 from other countries, such as Belgium, Sweden or Denmark.
  • XRechnung and ZUGFeRD/Factur-X (German and French formats) open too.

From 1 January 2027, EHF Invoicing, Peppol BIS Billing, EHF Self-Billing and Peppol BIS Self-Billing (version 3.0 or later) are the approved e-invoice formats under the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act [2]. Older EHF versions may display incompletely.

Why does the EHF file look strange?

An EHF invoice is a structured XML file, designed to be read automatically by accounting software. Open it in a normal browser or a text editor and you only see code. This viewer turns the code into a readable invoice, with labels in English or Norwegian.

Where do EHF files come from?

  • As an email attachment from a supplier or a system.
  • As a download from your accounting software or online bank.
  • From an access point or invoicing portal you use.

If you'd rather receive EHF invoices straight into your books, you need to be registered as a recipient. See check your ELMA registration.

Good to know

  • The XML file is the original invoice. What you see here is a readable rendering. From 1 January 2027 the Bookkeeping Act says an electronic invoice must be stored in its original format [3][4]. Keep the XML file, not just a printout.
  • The viewer does not check whether the invoice meets every rule. A validator will follow later.
  • We cannot see your invoice and cannot help with its content. Contact the sender about amounts or payment.

Wondering whether you must send EHF yourself? See the 2027 e-invoice requirement.
