UBL invoice viewer
Got an .xml file instead of an invoice? Drop it below. You'll see a readable invoice straight away: supplier,
customer, lines, VAT, totals and payment details. The file is read in your browser and never uploaded.
The file never leaves your browser: it is opened and shown on your device only.
Install the app. Open e-invoice files straight from your computer or phone, also offline. Files stay on your device.
Use offline. Keep the viewer on this device so it also works without a connection. Your browser saves a copy of our pages and the viewer; turn it off to remove the copy. Invoice files are never uploaded.
Which files can you open?
- SI-UBL 2.0, the Dutch version of the European standard (the NLCIUS), and Peppol BIS Billing 3.0. Dutch Peppol access points must support both [1]. Both are UBL 2.1 invoices under EN 16931, so the viewer shows them the same way.
- Credit notes in UBL.
- CII files (UN/CEFACT), such as German XRechnung.
Why did I get an XML file?
An e-invoice isn't a PDF but a structured file that software processes automatically; a PDF sent by email is not an e-invoice [2]. Your accounting software normally shows it as an invoice. You only see the raw XML when you download it, when a supplier forwards it, or when your bookkeeper sends it to you.
From 1 July 2030 the government plans to make e-invoices between businesses mandatory, using only the European standard EN 16931 [3]. More XML invoices will reach small businesses then.
What the viewer doesn't do
- It doesn't validate. It shows what is in the file. It doesn't tell you whether the invoice passes the SI-UBL 2.0
(NLCIUS) or Peppol BIS rules, or the Basisfactuur Rijk requirements of central government. For what common rule codes
(such as
BR-CO-15) mean, see validation errors explained. The Dutch Peppol Authority's test tool validates documents [1]. - It doesn't create, edit or send invoices. For that you need Peppol software: see free e-invoicing.
- It doesn't archive. The display only helps you read the file; keep the original. You must be able to guarantee the origin, content and legibility of a digital invoice [4].
Who sent this file?
Want to know which Peppol provider a supplier or customer uses? Use the Peppol ID lookup with their KvK number or VAT ID. That's a separate click; your invoice file is not sent anywhere.
Checked on 9 October 2026. The display is based on KoSIT's open-source visualisation (Apache-2.0); licences are listed on the licence page.
