Free e-invoicing in the Netherlands

Few invoices and no wish to pay? There are free ways to send, and some to receive, Peppol e-invoices. The Dutch Peppol Authority notes that many service providers' invoice portals are often free, and that some packages send for free but charge for receiving [1]. Read the limits: free plans differ a lot.

Free options with Peppol

Option What's free Limits
Jortt Starter Invoicing with Peppol sending and receiving, "no time limit", no fee per invoice [2] No bookkeeping, bank link or VAT return [2]
Odoo One App Free One app (such as Invoicing) with unlimited users [3]; Odoo says Peppol registration is free and lists the Netherlands as eligible [4] A second app moves you to a paid plan [3]
eConnect Factuurportaal Sending Peppol invoices by hand, without a contract or fixed costs [5] Sending only; receiving needs a paid plan; 2 users [5]
Peppyrus Up to 100 outgoing messages a month with unlimited receiving, from 1 November 2026 [6] Belgian service; its site doesn't say whether it takes Dutch companies [6]
Informer for ANBIs Non-Profit Start at EUR 0 for public-benefit organisations (ANBI); Peppol registration is free for Informer users [7] Only for ANBIs

The Peppol Authority also lists service providers with a Peppol portal (such as Banqup, Billit, B2Brouter, Edicom, eConnect, Pagero and Tradeinterop) [10]; not every portal is free, so check the price.

Invoicing only the government?

The Leveranciersportaal of the Rijksoverheid is free for up to 10 e-invoices a month to central government. It can't receive and doesn't use Peppol [1]. You type the invoice in and need the order number from your client [11]. More: invoicing the government.

Cheap, if free isn't enough

  • Moneybird Compact: EUR 3 a month, with Peppol sending and receiving on all plans; Compact includes 1 sales invoice, Start (EUR 15) is unlimited [8].
  • Peppol Box: EUR 60 a year excl. btw for up to 100 documents a year, on a 12-month licence [9].

More plans side by side: e-invoicing prices.

Before you choose

  1. Do you need to receive? Between businesses nothing is mandatory yet; e-invoicing is planned from 1 July 2030. If you only invoice the Rijk, sending is enough. See who must e-invoice.
  2. One provider per number. Each Peppol ID (your KvK number or VAT ID) points to one provider's address book at a time [12]. If you move from a free plan to paid software later, the old provider has to release it first.
  3. Check the result. After registering, look up your own KvK number with our Peppol ID lookup.
